Ricardo Afiune

An agricultural engineerspecializing in design, with 30 years of experience in creating environmentally sustainable furniture. His first project was in re-foresting his family’s property in the south of Minas Gerais state (Munhoz), then using the naturally-fallen branches of the tree Araucaria Angustifolia to create comfortable and durable furniture; hence the company name, “Araucari”.

Having won various awards for construction and design in Brazil and abroad, Ricardo is Executive Director of Araucari.

Active 25 years in the furniture business with projects in architectural, landscaping design and decoration, Araucari creates furniture designs and solutions, both indoor and outdoor, for shopping centers and malls, hotels, commercial and residential buildings, parks, and public spaces. Project development, choice of prime materials, and product manufacture follows eco-efficient standards in sustainability, and aims to balance pleasing aesthetics with functionality.
